Snapchat released its latest update this week. The update is called Banquo, and guess what is gone? The ghost’s smile.
Snapchat’s update also includes a change to its “leaderboard” function. Previously the leaderboard, which shows the three users (labeled as “best friends”) a user snaps with the most, was only available on the app’s website. Raise your hand if you’ve ever gone to an app’s website. Nobody ever does. Now the leaderboard is visible right within the app, and can be seen by tapping any user’s name.
Imagine your girlfriend Suzie seeing that the person you snap with the most, after her, is her friend Amanda. There will be fireworks, and not the good kind. This could be a relationship killer.
The update also adds an interesting feature that almost guarantees that this will be a big month for Snapchat signups. You can now send a snap to anyone in your contact list. The recipient, if not already a Snapchat user, will need to download the app to see the snap. Brilliant.
