What happens when nine cousins get together for a long weekend? Computer games, mostly. Team Fortress II, Minecraft, Mario Kart…
These cousins – 3 of mine, 5 belonging to my brother in law and one belonging to my sister in law, were all together at my place this weekend. The crowd is probably dispersing as I write this.
Their ages range from 5 to 16, and since my brother in law currently lives in Japan, they don’t see each other all that often.
We have a garage full of bicycles and toys, and tons of athletic equipment, but instead what we got was wifi overload, with infrequent breaks for ice cream and sleep.
While I would rather they had spent more time playing outside, they certainly seemed to enjoy themselves. Is this a bad thing? How do you balance letting them do what they want (and have fun) with what they “should” be doing? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
